Steveston Historical Musuem

This is a fully operational post office. You can visit the Museum's upstairs gallery. Lots of history about the culture and fishing of this village.
In the heart of Steveston Village on Moncton St and surrounded by board sidewalks reminiscent of the planked roads and sidewalks from the turn of the century, is this heritage building a fine example of early prefabrication.
Built in 1905 as the area's first bank. Entering this working Post Office musuem you will see an original bank manager's office as well as the old general store that served a growing community in the early 1900's. The museum also has a second floor where more Japanese and Chinese artifacts reflect the prescence of these cultures in Steveston and photo displays capture some of the heritage of one of the oldest fishing harbours on the West Coast of Canada.

Gulf of Georgia Cannery Musuem:

Situated atop wooden pilings over the mighty Fraser River, the Cannery is one of the few remaining 19th century salmon canneries in B.C. In its heyday, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery was the largest building of its kind and the leading producer of canned salmon in B.C. Now a dynamic fishing museum, step inside and become immersed in the sights and sounds and stories of the West Coast fishing industry.
